For those who love to play in the sand, a Go Kart is the ideal vehicle.  Go Karts, also known as Dune Buggies and Sand rails, have been around for nearly fifty years and have gone through a number of transformations.  These inexpensive vehicles are meant for the sand, hence their name “dune,” referring to sand dunes, and if you ever ride one you will know it.  The body frame is hollow due to the rail or tube construction and the tires are large.  This keeps the go kart from sinking and allows it to move quickly across the terrain.  Newer go karts have been updated to be able to ride on different terrains including surface streets. The larger buggies can reach speeds of 55+ miles per hour.  Most come equipped with a 4-stroke engine which can provide more than enough torque to power the vehicle up to those high speeds.  The 4-stroke engines also aid in the long life of the vehicle because these engine types use a dedicated lubrication oil rather than the 2-stroke engines which waste their oil by mixing it with the gasoline fuel.
